Friends of East End
The Friends of East End is an all-volunteer nonprofit working to reclaim East End Cemetery, a historic African American burial ground, from nature and neglect. With the help of thousands of volunteers, they seek to transform the cemetery into a public site of memory, contemplation, and beauty that honors Richmond’s Black community and history.
I was incredibly honored when asked to create their logo.
East End Cemetery
Years after designing the logo for Friends of East End, I was commissioned by the East End Cemetery Collaboratory to create a logo for several related resources, including a digital map and an interactive website.
As you can see here eastendcemeteryrva.com is a dynamic resource that features photographs made at East End as well as archival images from public-domain sources and from relatives of the deceased; primary documents about the cemetery and the people buried there.
Thank you Erin & Brian for this opportunity!
